The production of unburnt pressed bricks from construction waste materials
Research and improve the production of unburnt pressed bricks from construction waste materials.
Investment unit: Bao Loc Investment Joint Stock Company
Project participants: Board of Directors; Technical Department; KCS Department - Bao Loc Investment Joint Stock Company.
Role: Director - research to come up with improved solutions and implement the project.
Purpose of request:
In accordance with Directive No. 08 dated March 20, 2018 and Plan No. 1961 dated May 11, 2018 of the People's Committee of Binh Duong province, which aim to gradually reduce the production and use of baked clay bricks, I conducted research and proposed improvements for the conversion of the Tuynel brick production line to unburnt Block brick production for Brick Factory Bao Loc Investment Joint Stock Company in August 2018. However, the production of unburnt Block bricks (aggregate cement-unfired bricks) by the company still requires main raw materials such as cement, sandstone, sand, etc. Unfortunately, the scarcity and price fluctuations of these construction materials in the market have posed challenges to the company's production, making it difficult to find alternative sources of raw materials. In order to address the issue of raw material scarcity, I conducted further research and developed a technology for producing adobe bricks from certain types of construction waste, while still utilizing the company's existing adobe brick production line. This solution aims to mitigate the company's dependence on traditional raw materials and provide a sustainable alternative for brick production, in line with the directive and plan set forth by the People's Committee of Binh Duong province.
New technology:
The technology of producing unburnt bricks from "petrified" earth is based on the principle of magnetism, based on the presence of the element Silicon (Si) as a strong structure and binder, creating ionization into inorganic composites. an extremely sturdy material. Due to material properties such as: clay is negative (-), with materials that have a lot of (+) magnesium or clay, thanks to the force of compressing them together, a new substance is as hard as a rock. This technology is simply understood as the technology of producing adobe bricks that meet construction standards from non-fertile soils such as soil, rocks, degraded hilly soil or limestone, sand, gravel, gravel and garbage. construction solid waste, excavation soil for ponds and lakes, broken bricks, lime mortar, honeycomb charcoal for cooking, industrial solid waste (non-toxic), fly ash, coal slag (construction waste materials)... a combination with additives, through pressure. After pressing to create a mold, the brick is left out in the environment for 25 - 30 days, during this time, the soil in the brick undergoes a chemical reaction, gradually hardening (petrification).
Production process of unburnt pressed bricks from construction waste materials:
Material preparation (which is an important part of new technology):
Unlike the production process of unburnt bricks, the main materials are: sand, cement, and sandstone. The materials used by the Company here are soil, rock, degraded hilly soil or all kinds of limestone, sand, gravel, gravel, construction solid waste... So the preparation of raw materials is an important part. best of this technology.
- Input materials: Soil, sand, solid waste and other additives are transported to the material storage yard. The material storage yard depends on the reserve more or less different. These materials are focused on 1 area and classified: Soil, sand, other solid waste... No organic matter is required.
- Drying materials: is an important preparation step, drying or drying materials are soil or industrial solid waste.
- Treatment of soil according to standard size: Depending on moisture and different materials, the soil and waste are dried and then put into the crusher into aggregate according to technical standards.
- Incubation of dry soil after treatment: The dry soil after treatment is loosened and put through the conveyor belt into the mixer with additives, the water is then incubated for at least 24 hours, creating a uniform grain structure and evenly penetrates all aggregates. It is then put and.
The next production stages still use the factory's existing production lines:
(1) Supply of raw materials: I have made the most of the existing machinery and equipment of the factory such as: hoppers, material conveyors so that raw materials for brick production are fully loaded into the hoppers (thanks to the excavator). , the material will be put into the mixer and mixed well.
(2) Material mixer: Raw materials and other water-based additives are mixed evenly for a certain period of time.
(3) Forming machine: Thanks to the hydraulic system, the machine works under the pressing mechanism combined with the vibration to create a great vibration force to form the bricks uniformly, achieving high quality and stability.
(4) Switch tiles:
The bricks are machine-shaped on plastic pallets, then transferred to the brick stacker via a chain conveyor.
(5) Nursing care:
The brick curing process will be carried out for a period of 25 - 30 days, during this time, the soil in the brick undergoes a chemical reaction, gradually hardening (petrification).
(6): Transfer the goods to the warehouse waiting for delivery.
After the bricks are cured, they will be transferred to the chain conveyor and transferred to the warehouse.
Results and achievements:
The test results of unburnt bricks using new technology (petrification) of the Company show that the bricks have a compressive strength of 120-130kg/cm2; bending degree is 43kg/cm2; water absorption 8.8% - 9.5%, meanwhile, allowable water absorption is less than 18%. Checking the finished brick product, we see that the brick is flat, smooth, solid, less absorbent. The Company's brick products also have standard certification and standard conformity registration.
Soil petrification technology has created unburnt bricks with the following outstanding advantages:
+ Simple process, production does not pollute the environment because bricks are not burned and make use of waste in construction and industry.
+ The unit is more active in the source of raw materials because it is abundant and available in localities such as mixed clay, clay sand, hilly soil....
+ Cheap price: The production cost of a batch of bricks using the new technology method is only 70% of the production cost of a batch of bricks using the old technology. Since then, the Company saves costs and products with more competitive prices in the market.
+ Producing unburnt bricks according to the "petrification" project based on the existing equipment of the technology of producing unburnt Block bricks, so there is no need to invest in equipment, and it is possible to produce 2 products of both Block bricks at the same time. fired and "petrified" unburnt bricks on the same line (I only change the input materials).
The brick production line according to the new technology proposed by me, was invested by the Company in early October 2019 and put into operation with a design capacity of 30 million bricks/year. Products manufactured at the Company such as construction bricks, pavement bricks, facing bricks, decorative bricks, tiles, roads...
Currently, this "petrified" brick production line is also replicated and applied at Xuan Hoa Tuynel Brick Factory (Binh Duong)… contribute to the development of unburnt brick production for Binh Duong province in particular and Vietnam's construction material industry in general.
